Thank you

Firstly, I need to say thank you to all of you who sent prayers and good wishes for my father in law.

At this stage they seem to have discounted the more scary and serious stuff and he will be returning to hospital soon to have his gall bladder removed with key hole surgery.  Still concerning but definitely a whole lot better than what it might have been.

They have still taken biopsies and I guess they are covering their bets but at least he is being looked after by his doctors.

We can hope that with the surgery, what ever is the problem will be fixed but I guess only time will tell.

The week was a busy one and one I was happy to see the end of.

My own parents were away and we had custody and responsibility for their little Pomeranian “Toffee”.  She is a sweet and energetic little thing and we spent a lot of time playing ball down the passage..

She went home today, and after a bit of a cleaning frenzy (dusting mopping etc) I started what I hope will be a birthday or mothers day gift for my Mum.

No face yet so still looking not quite right but not too bad for a couple of hours and my new oils I think.

Not the best pics but as it is still a work in progress,I know you will forgive me.

And remember, don’t tell my Mum.

Also still in progress, my spider.

I ended up making it larger, I wasn’t happy with how it was originally sitting on the canvas.

Its still pretty messy but I am happier with it and next week, I shall add more definition to the back and legs

So just a short post today.

Thank you again my lovely friends for your support and caring wishes this week.  It was so very much appreciated.

Time I went and made a potato salad.  Friends popping over for a BBQ as we make the most of the warm days before Winter lands on us.

Oh, and would you believe that it is now less than 7 months before my grand adventure.  Accommodation and airfares all booked and pretty much paid.  Still a rental car to organise for us to use in Texas and also  I need to decide just what I just can’t possibly miss in NYC.

All suggestions appreciated.

Better choof.  Taters to toss and such.

Hugs and smiles

  1. Glad FIL is not facing anything more serious than gallbladder surgery – that’s a relief for everyone in the family I’m sure. Still, I’m sending Happy Healthy Thoughts to him and you all!

What a sweet little dog. I love the name too. Your start at painting her is amazing. I can’t imagine how hard it is to paint hair… I had a heck of a time using pencil, which I could erase to bits. I know the end result will be a very special gift for your mother.

As to NYC, sadly I have not been there, so you’ll be giving me suggestions upon your return. Gosh, before you know it you’ll be there and home again. Time flies to quickly.

    Hugs and Smiles, Jenny xxoo

    1. Thank you for your kind words. At this stage FIL is still having more tests, the doctor wanting to be completely sure before any surgery.
I had fun painting Toffee and I really hope Mum does love it. Not sure if I will be able to hold back showing her until her birthday, especially when i will see her over easter

  2. Here’s hoping the surgery goes well for your father-in-law.
The paintings are coming along nicely. And what a great, thoughtful gift for your mother.
I don’t have any suggestions for New York since I’ve never been there, but while you’re in Texas, I hope you have a chance to go to Houston and see the Rothko Chapel. It’s really unique, and it’s right next to a free museum.

    1. Sadly I don’t think we will get to Houston, but maybe a day trip to Austin might happen. We will be spending most of our time in the Waco area after flying in to Dallas. We also fly home from Dallas.

  3. Another bloody awesome painting, it is coming along nicely, hope your fil opp goes well, isn’t it amazing how many opps can be done via key hole surgery doctors 100 years ago would be amazed at what we can do nowadays

  4. NYC – Toys R Us has opted to not resign their lease, so if it is still there (Times Square) you MUST ride the ferris wheel in the store. 🙂 Also, if you’re there on a Saturday night, look into being part of the studio audience for Sat. Night Live. at the NBC Studios. 🙂 Central Park is BEAUTIFUL.

I wish I knew when you’d be there… I would love to take the train to meet you. It’s a haul, from here, but if I had the time and $ I’d be there. 🙂

Gall bladder laproscopic surgery is not so bad. Mine was more complicated because of everything else going on, but the surgery itself is easy peesy. Note for him though, just because it’s all pretty on the outside, he needs to remember that it’s the same surgery as if they cut him ribs to button. Make sure he gives himself PLENTY of healing time and follows the doctors orders. My full recovery took about 9 weeks, and the intestinal stuff about 4 months.

    1. Given the FIL age and the fact he is a smoker, they are still deciding if the surgery is necessary so more tests and checks which is probably a good thing.
We arrive in NYC late on the 20th October and will be there for a week hopefully getting a good taste of what the city is all about.
I have put the Toy store on the list and Saturday night live sounds like fun. I will look into it.

  5. Positive news on the FIL front. That’s great. I am sending positive energies and healing wishes to him for a quick and easy surgery. Keep us posted.

Love that little doggie! Adorable.Your mother will be so pleased, I’ve no doubt!

As for NYC, if you can take the Circle Line boat tour it’s really worth it. It circles all around Manhattan island and you get to see quite a bit. I’ve been to NYC a bunch of times but seeing it from the water looking in was awesome. I saw things I’d never seen before. You must be super excited.

Hugs and love my friend! Have a fabulous week.

    1. I have heard of the boat tour and thought it would be fun so it is on the list.
I think in the end there will be so much we just wont get to but it will be the most awesome adventure just being there

Love to know what you think so please leave me a message
